Margaret Bannister is a Nurse Consultant and Diabetes BSc/MSc Pathway Lead and Lecturer at Bradford University. She has gained more than 30 years’ experience in diabetes care including 13 years as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and 15 years as a Nurse Consultant in Bradford. In Bradford and Airedale from 2002 to 2017 she led the community diabetes team supporting the intermediate care service across the district. She was an active member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) diabetes forum from 2004 to 2012, including a spell as the Chair from 2006 to 2010.
Margaret has also been Chair of the National Nurse Consultant Group, from 2008 to 2010, and was a Nurse Representative on the 2008 NICE type 2 diabetes guideline consensus group. Her areas of clinical interest are patient-focused care delivery and education. Ms Bannister retired from her full-time NHS clinical role in 2017 but retains an active role working with diabetes teams across Yorkshire. She has been a faulty member of At the 4-Front since its inception.
