Nicola Milne
Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Manchester University Foundation Trust​

Nicola Milne qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1988 and as a Midwife in 1991. She moved into primary care in 2002, where she worked as a Practice Nurse until April 2018. During this time Nicola had a special interest in diabetes in addition to general practice and she focused on promoting effective, accessible care. She is now employed by Manchester University Foundation Trust as a Community Diabetes Specialist Nurse working within primary care to give support and education to healthcare professionals (HCPS) in the delivery of optimal diabetes care to adults living with type 2 diabetes. 

Nicola has published many articles on chronic kidney disease and diabetes and on projects involving diabetes prevention, pregnancy and hypoglycaemia awareness. Nicola was Chair of the Diabetes UK Professional Conference Organising Committee for Liverpool 2019, and is currently a Committee Member of the Primary Care Diabetes Society. She is a faculty member of At the 4-Front and sits on the editorial board of Diabetes & Primary Care and the Journal of Diabetes Nursing. Nicola is also a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion.
