Sian Bodman qualified in nursing in 1984 in Plymouth, Devon. She returned to Caerphilly, Wales, and worked in elderly care, acute medicine and district nursing before specialising in diabetes in 1995. In 2005, she moved to Torfaen Local Health Board to take up a position as Lead Nurse Diabetes. Here, in conjunction with a General Practitioner, she provided an intermediate specialist diabetes service alongside her general practice work. She also attained an MSc in Weight Management at Chester University. 

Sian is currently Senior Nurse for Diabetes at Aneurin Bevan University Trust. She is responsible for the diabetes specialist nurse service using a new service model of integrated care. Sian is also developing an inpatient team within Royal Gwent Hospitals to improve inpatient care.
